Ingredients

  • 4 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 200g all-purpose flour
  • 100g unsalted butter, softened
  • 100g granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Juice of half a lemon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture until a dough forms.
  6. Divide the dough in half and roll out one half to fit a pie dish.
  7. Place the rolled dough in the pie dish and fill with sliced apples.
  8. Sprinkle cinnamon and lemon juice over the apples.
  9. Roll out the second half of the dough and place it over the apples, sealing the edges.
  10. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  11. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Let cool before serving.
